Editors' Notes Clear Moon, the first of Phil Elverum’s two Mount Eerie records from 2012, sees the Washington state songwriter exploring tranquil sounds that also conceal a mysterious sense of unease. On opener “Through the Trees, Pt. 2,” Elverum ponders “mountains and websites” over a gently strummed acoustic guitar, while songs like “House Shape” and “Yawning Sky” come shrouded in a dense fog of synthesizers and pitter-pattering drums. It’s a bleary collection even by Elverum’s standards, but it's nonetheless beautiful.
