10 Songs, 1 Hour 5 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

A sequel to an album shelved in 1977, Chrome Dreams II is a rebellious rock experience with touches of country and soul. Only Young could follow a banjo-picked tribute to hobo life (“Boxcar”) with an 18-minute slab of riff-driven squall embedded with twinkling piano and R&B horns (“Ordinary People”). And to remind you of his unpredictability, he closes with the unusually uplifting “The Way,” a soul ballad featuring a children’s choir.

Whoops!

I think that the official review is talking about the wrong album. However, Chrome Dreams 2 as indicated in the track list is Neil Young at the very top of his game.
