Bach & Vivaldi: Sonar in ottava. Double Concertos for Violin and Violoncello Piccolo

Bach & Vivaldi: Sonar in ottava. Double Concertos for Violin and Violoncello Piccolo

A well-chosen selection of double concertos for violin and cello played by two of Italy’s finest exponents of Baroque string playing. Mario Brunello’s cello playing, fleet of foot and full of fantasy, finds a perfect partner in Giuliano Carmignola’s stylish and often very witty violin playing. They sparkle in faster movements but equally find heart-easing repose in the slower ones, and Vivaldi gives them so many opportunities. The youthful Accademia dell'Annunciata from Abbiategrasso near Milan match their soloists with playing of colossal energy and fire, a vigour overseen with great skill by their director, Riccardo Doni.
