Apple Music Home Session: BERWYN

Apple Music Home Session: BERWYN

“I have my laptop connected to a projector and the screen is my entire wall,” BERWYN tells Apple Music. "If I’m not on the sofa or my little chair then I’m cooling it off on my bean bag—making beats. I’ve felt like the hip-hop Charles Xavier.” From this pretty comfy sounding space, the London-based rapper, singer-songwriter and producer continues to expand on his gifts and navigate the global pandemic—embarking on experiments both sonic and culinary (“I’ve been cooking way more now. And drinking way more tea.”). He’s also used this period to cook up an exclusive At Home With Session for Apple Music. First up, BERWYN deconstructed breakthrough track “TRAP PHONE” into something that better resembles its original form. “I actually wrote the chorus on the guitar, so this showed me how I still like it on the guitar,” he says. “VINYL”, meanwhile, serves as a powerful reminder of BERWYN’s unique blend of pointed lyricism and soulful melodies. “It’s been a mixed bag,” he says of his time grappling various lockdowns COVID-19 crisis. “The biggest lesson I’ve had to learn? When to fall out of love with the shit you can’t control.”
