Apple Music Home Session: LATENIGHTJIGGY

“I just bring my own flavour and make you move a little bit,” LATENIGHTJIGGY says of his Apple Music Home Session. “The last couple of years showed me how much I really love to be creative and make music—and feeling like all I had to do was create has only brought me closer to my art.” The Maryland singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist opens his three-track dispatch with a rework of “All 2 Myself”, stepping behind the keys to transform his atmospheric 2019 single into a sweeping piano ballad. Next in line: a single from the same year, “Mimosas”, where he raps in both English and Spanish. Having learned Spanish in his youth through close ties to Maryland’s sizeable Dominican and Salvadorian communities, LATENIGHTJIGGY’s bilingual flair is reflected in his smooth fusion of R&B, reggaetón and dancehall. “I love intimate vibes more than anything else,” he says. “And these are two songs of mine I feel are a little underappreciated. I definitely enjoyed recording them in a more intimate fashion.” For a cover attempt, he takes on Giveon Evans’ 2021 breakthrough single “Still Your Best”, a song he still cherishes. “It’s one of those situations that I’ve been in and wrote about,” he says. “But I feel he just did it way better, and I love it.”
