One of the highlights on rising German star Zoe Wees’ exclusive playlist is “the author”, a dreamy bit of bedroom pop from Irish singer-songwriter Luz. “Whenever I listen to ‘the author’, I can finally relax,” Wees tells Apple Music. “It feels like I'm entering another world. The melodies are so thrilling and I like the production of the song because there are so many different moods in it. The way she is writing songs is unique.” Elsewhere, Wees also selected “Youth”, an at once plaintive and anthemic single from English folk-rock trio Daughter. “I love the song because the guitar and Elena Tonra’s voice create a great symbiosis,” she says. “It’s beautifully written and produced, powerful but fragile—especially the part when the drums are starting.”
