Piano legend Wynton Kelly played with a jaw-dropping list of jazz giants, including Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Billie Holiday, but his '50s and '60s solo sides are the ones that really tell his story best. Kelly dug deeply into every note he played, swinging hard and always adding a bluesy touch to his bop, whether he was putting across a tender, lyrical ballad like "Portrait of Jenny", shooting off some lightning-flash licks alongside guitar god Wes Montgomery on "Unit 7" or bringing a Latin vibe onboard for the hard-grooving "Bobo".
