After doing time as a honky-tonker on his Arkansas home turf, Tracy Lawrence made the move to Nashville in 1990, signing with Atlantic a year later and proceeding to become one of the biggest country artists of the decade. Like a lot of his peers at the time, Lawrence was able to take his trad-country influences and turn them into something roots-conscious but undeniably modern.
