Influenced by the literary spirit and playful nature of the ‘60s counterculture, Charlebois rose to prominence near the end of that decade with songs like “Lindberg”—like a French-language equivalent of the cerebral and intricate art-pop Todd Rundgren was making. Awarded the Order of Canada in 1999, he remains a titanic figure and an active participant in the worlds of music and theatre.
