Editors' Notes Old-school garage rock doesn't get any purer than Paul Revere & The Raiders. Storming out of the Pacific Northwest in the early '60s, the group played a pioneering role in the genre thanks to their blistering organs, snarling guitar fuzz, and feverish beats that sound like the missing link between R&B and punk. Throughout the decade and well into the '70s, the Raiders unleashed a dizzying number of hits that reflected their uncanny ability to incorporate touches of psychedelia, bubblegum, country rock, and so much more into an infectious and highly adaptable sound.
