Originally known for his work with the French hip-hop group TTC, Jean-Baptiste de Laubier has become a major force in his own right, turning out innovative electro-fusion as Para One since his 2003 Beat Down EP. Often creating beats from warped sounds and pushing synths to their sonic limits, Para One is always fresh, exciting—and made for the club. 2006's debut LP Epiphanie demonstrated his wide palette—the glitchy “Turtle Trouble” complementing the tearing synth-dread of “Dundun-dun”—but his work also extends to film soundtracks, including the 2014 movie Girlhood.
