Luke formed under the influence of France's Noir Désir and English-speaking pop-rock at the end of the ‘90s. Changes to their lineup have proved both a blessing and a curse, as they've often prompted lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Thomas Boulard, to reimagine their sound. Sticking to boisterous guitars, poignant lyrics and mean and memorable riffs, Luke embrace all manner of subject matter and material—like raging social commentary, pop catchiness, a thrust of punk roughness, and sensitive ballads that lose the noise to bring forth Boulard's talent as a pensive, emotional vocalist.
