French conductor Laurence Equilbey is nothing short of a master of Romantic, Classical and Baroque repertoire, especially the vocal works. She found in her chamber choir Accentus, which she started in 1991, the perfect vehicle for her remarkable interpretations of works like Gounod's rhapsodic Saint François d'Assise and Mozart's somber Requiem. Naturally, her grasp of the French classics is strong, whether it be her rousing interpretation of Ravel's “La Flûte Enchantée” or the tender, sympathetic performance that Accentus offers of Fauré's Requiem.
