Active since the ‘60s, Alain Chamfort's career reads like a who's-who of French pop history. Cult producer Jacques Dutronc took the Parisian musician from mod to lounge lizard, abetted by famed synth player Wally Badarou, and he commanded co-writes from enfants terribles Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Fortunately, Chamfort also had sufficient chops to distinguish himself from his starry collaborators. His calm, soothing voice lends itself beautifully to the various engaging phases of his career, whether art rock à la Roxy Music, or later, mellower adult sounds.
