About The Five Keys
R&B/doo-wop group the Five Keys helped shape the rhythm and blues revolution of the early 1950s. The group's landmark remake of "The Glory Of Love" became a R&B number one in 1951. And though they underwent a few line-up shifts over the next few years, by the latter half of the decade the keys were recording for Capitol Records. They scored several hits for the label, including the novelty pop-jump tune "Ling, Ting, Tong," the spectacular R&B ballads "Close Your Eyes" and "The Verdict," and a marvelous remake of the Ink Spots’ "The Gypsy." While the group's popularity was eventually diminished by the rock & roll explosion, they remained exemplars of the early R&B vocal style.
