About The Elgins
The Elgins were actually a combination of soloist Saundra Edwards and a three-man group called the Downbeats. Edwards, like Kim Weston and Brenda Holloway, was one of the finest vocalists in the Motown stable. As leader of the Elgins, the group scored some minor chart hits, including the original version of "Heaven Must Have Sent You," which became a major hit for Bonnie Pointer in 1979. Their only album featured some top-rate material by Holland-Dozier-Holland. ~ Rick A. Bueche
