About Steve Lawrence
Steve Lawrence made his recording debut for King Records at the age of 16. The song, "Mine And Mine Alone," revealed a remarkably mature voice and style. Influenced by Frank Sinatra, but never merely a copyist, Lawrence had his first hit in 1957 with "The Banana Boat Song," followed by the Top 5 hit, "Party Doll." After his military service, he embarked on a Grammy-winning double act with his wife, Eydie Gorme, and scored a memorable hit with "I Want To Stay Here" in 1963. Lawrence also continued to have regular solo hits, including "Go Away Little Girl," and enjoyed critical success with his albums.
