John Moore

About John Moore

Walter Davis was a blues pianist and bandleader from the St. Louis music scene stretching back to the '30s. Tenor saxophonist John Moore is an associate from the twilight of Davis' career, their collaborations naturally featured on the last of seven volumes in the Document series devoted to Davis' entire works, indeed comprising the pianist's final recording sessions ever. In contrast, this seems to be the only documentation of Moore, part of a nifty small combo leaping forward under the power of drummer Jump Jackson. This saxophonist should not be confused with the later classical tenor saxophonist who is also named John Moore. ~ Eugene Chadbourne
