The American pianist George Li has made the transition from child prodigy to prominent competition prize-winner to successful international touring pianist. Li won his first prize when he was six. He made his orchestra debut in China with the Xiamen Philharmonic at age nine. At 11 he performed at Carnegie Hall. He performed at the White House for President Barack Obama and German chancellor Angela Merkel in 2011. Li's list of concert appearances as a high school and college student is impressive. He has been especially prominent in St. Petersburg, appearing frequently with the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev and giving a recital at the Mariinsky Theater, which was issued as his debut album on the Warner Classics label in 2017. ~ James Manheim
