About Travis

Travis is an award-winning alternative rock band from Scotland that was at the forefront of the UK’s musical shift from Britpop to a more introspective sound. ∙ Formed in 1991, the band got their big break five years later, when Andy MacDonald signed them to his Independiente label after hearing their self-released single “All I Want to Do Is Rock.” ∙ Travis became stars with their sophomore album, The Man Who, which earned them Best Album and Best Group at the 2000 BRIT Awards and went on to sell more than three million copies. ∙ The Invisible Band, featuring 2001’s massive summer hit “Sing,” gave them their second straight chart-topping album in the UK and another BRIT Award for Best Group. ∙ In honor of their two decades of musical contributions, Travis received the People Make Glasgow Special Recognition Award at 2016’s SSE Scottish Music Awards. ∙ The group has reached the Top 10 on the UK charts nine times, most recently with 2020’s 10 Songs, which peaked at No. 5. ∙ Coldplay is one of many acts who cite Travis’ melodic and emotional music as a major influence, with Chris Martin calling them “the band that invented my band and lots of others.”
