Formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1980, The Church are among many bands known for one massive hit, despite having a vast and varied catalog. The quartet achieved Australian success early with their blend of jangly psych-pop, but didn't see a big global hit until the 1988 album, Starfish. As their career progressed, they continued to make stunning albums of multi-layered folk-rock, lush neo-psychedelic soundscapes and poetic asides. Lineup changes haven't crippled the band, and they continue to record albums and tour worldwide.
