Strings Essentials

Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia met at university in Karachi—one a budding banker, the other interested in advertising. The two started Strings by chance when they were asked to play at a party in 1988. Their initial run as a four-piece lasted just four years, but when the duo casually collaborated on a track in 2000, “Duur” reignited their creative kindling to light their way to superstardom. Taking musical cues from the Western rock and pop of MTV and infusing them with traditional Pakistani melodies, Strings blend stirring, anthemic rhythms with the duo’s inimitable liquid vocals.
