Like many of their post-hardcore contemporaries, Silverstein bow at the altar of Swedish punk-rock modernists Refused, as evidenced by their furious, contorted riffage and vocalist Shane Told’s blood-curdling growls. But Told has always balanced his aggressive impulses with a melodic sensibility inherited from emo kingpins like Jimmy Eat World, while the band leans into every song with the arena-conquering conviction of prime Pearl Jam.
