Sex Pistols: Influences

Sex Pistols: Influences

While they were preaching punk's “no future!” philosophy, the Sex Pistols were actually putting a subversive spin on the past. Steve Jones' raw riffage belongs to a lineage spanning rockabilly rebel Gene Vincent, the mod anarchy of the early Who, and the glam boogie of T. Rex; Johnny Rotten's anti-pop snarl channelled both Iggy Pop at his most unhinged and the gruff bark of Can's Malcolm Mooney.
