Oskar Linnros, formerly of alternative hip-hop duo Snook, surprisingly stopped rapping on his 2010 debut solo album Vilja Bli—meaning “wanting to become”. An instant demonstration of musical versatility, it was an impressively smooth reinvention, his new sound adopting upbeat '80s synth pop and mixing in '70s disco on a slew of summery singles, while the LP reached number two on the Swedish chart. Mature second album Klappar och Slag confirmed his ascendancy, its minor-key, introspective melodies elevating him to the pantheon of acclaimed Swedish singer/songwriters like Maura Scocco and Orup.
