Narcy Essentials

Formerly a member of Iraqi trio Euphrates, Yassin Alsalman broke out solo as The Narcicyst in the 2000s before rebranding as Narcy in the mid-2010s. Throughout his multiple incarnations, however, the gist of his musical spirit is undeniable. Narcy voices the frustrations of the disenfranchised over gritty beats and syncopated rhythms, as on the hard-hitting “Free (One Day)” and “Savior Complex”. He’s also cut collab tracks with artists as varied as indie rockers Mashrou’ Leila, alt-pop singer Lido Pimienta and hip-hop legend Yasiin Bey.
