Jansen, who has recorded one of the finest versions of Britten's Violin Concerto, and a superb coupling of Prokofiev's Second Concerto and two sonatas, is a player with something to say. A thoughtful musician, she nevertheless brings a sense of freedom and spontaneity to her recordings and in concert. Joined by a high-powered group of friends, she recorded Schubert's String Quintet and Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht with wonderful results. Her small-scale recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons was a best-selling classical recording of the digital age.
