Eisbrecher Essentials

Part of the Neue Deutsche Härte scene popularised by Oomph! and Rammstein, Eisbrecher deal in a similarly sinister and menacing sound. Formed in 2003, the band’s music is defined by a mix of heavy industrial guitars, pummelling drums and electronic flourishes—as well as Alexander Wesselsky’s intimidatingly dominant vocal delivery. Indeed, “1000 Narben” and “Eiszeit” could be the soundtrack to your worst nightmares—uncompromising and unforgiving songs that might well have been forged in the furnaces of the underworld. And they’re all the more impressive for it.
