At Home With Hayley Williams: The Playlist

Ironically, shortly after Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams released her very first solo project in January 2020—Petals for Armor I, the first in a three-EP series—she started quarantining herself at home. In her interview for Apple Music’s At Home With series, she says she’s adjusting to this new normal by hanging with her dog Alf, having teatime with friends over FaceTime and listening to music that comforts and transports her. “I’m listening to music that started my journey with Paramore—the bands that we listened to early on,” she tells Zane Lowe. “That was such a really good time for alternative, indie rock and punk music, and I'm very comforted by it.” On this exclusive Apple Music playlist curated by Williams herself, she’s included personal favourites by Blonde Redhead, Mew and Stereolab alongside challenging songs by Swedish guitarist Daniel Ögren and Japanese polymath Cornelius. “I’m also listening to a lot of stuff that sounds otherworldly, or very much not American,” she adds. “Because I'm in America right now, and it feels like I just want to be anywhere else.” Check out the songs that are helping Williams through these strange times.
