Angelo Branduardi Essentials

Born in the Milan region but raised in Genoa, Angelo Branduardi had an early musical grounding that would offer few hints about the direction he would ultimately take; he was classically trained as a violinist, but went on to become one of Italy’s most enduring musical subversives. Branduardi started out in folk in the ’60s, taking inspiration from the music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, before branching out into more complex and nuanced arrangements, often backed by strings. Tracing his colourful career takes us from the delicate “Alla fiera dell’est” to the more expansive likes of “Rosa di Galilea”.
