About Ozark Henry

Idiosyncratic Belgian pop composer Ozark Henry broke through to mainstream success with his 2001 album, Birthmarks. Born Piet Goddaer in Kortrijk in 1970, he was the son of classical and jazz composer Norbert Goddaer, and began playing saxophone and piano at age six. He and brother Jan played in several bands while still young, and he scored several underground hits under varying aliases. He began recording as Ozark Henry in 1996, and his Sony debut five years later, Birthmarks, became a hit on the strength of the hit singles "Rescue" and "Sweet Instigator." Subsequent albums performed better and better, including a pair of chart-toppers, 2006's The Soft Machine and 2010's Hvelreki. ~ Jason Ankeny
