Laia Martín

Pianist Laia Martín plays an important role in the musical culture of her home region of Catalonia, Spain, as a performer, educator, and festival director. She is active as both a solo performer and a chamber music player. At age 17, Martín performed her first recital under the auspices of the Jeunesses Musicales organization of her home region, La Cerdanya. Martín is especially active as a chamber music player, having performed as one half of a duo with violinist Francisca María Asensio Contesti since 2007. In 2013, Martín became executive director at the Puigcerdà Music Festival. In 2023, Martín released her debut recording on the Naxos label, joining cellist Dmitry Yablonsky on an album of Catalan cello works. She teaches and serves as an accompanist at the Issi Fabra Music School and at the Pirineus Conservatory in Puigcerdà.
