Friday Night Plans is a musical collective built around Japanese pop and R&B singer Masumi and her various collaborators. • Masumi hails from Tokyo. Her father is Japanese, and her mother is Filipina. • She made her debut as Friday Night Plans on starRo and AmPm’s 2017 song “Maybe”. • In 2018, she began working with drummer/producer Tepppei, who would become a frequent collaborator. • Friday Night Plans’ 2018 cover of Japanese pop singer Mariya Takeuchi’s 1984 pop song “Plastic Love” became a streaming hit and went Top 40 on Japan's Oricon Singles Chart. • With 2018’s LOCATION - Los Angeles, Masumi compiled songs she recorded on a trip to California. • Friday Night Plans’ 2019 single “HONDA” was used by its namesake car manufacturer in a commercial. It peaked just outside the Top 40 on Japan’s Oricon Singles Chart.
