About Elvira Misbakhova

The principal associate violist with the Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, Elvira Misbakhova also performs and records as a soloist. In 1996, Misbakhova became the associate violist with the Kazan Chamber Orchestra La Primavera. Composer Airat Ichmouratov wrote a viola concerto for her graduation; romance grew, and the two were married. In 2000, both Misbakhova and Ichmouratov joined the klezmer group Kleztory. She made her recording debut in 2004 with the group on the album Kleztory and I Musici de Montréal: Klezmer. In 2019, she was a member of a chamber group that recorded the album André Mathieu: Musique de Chambre. She returned in 2023 on that label on an album containing Ichmouratov's Viola Concerto No. 1 and Piano Concerto, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra.
