Anthony Marwood

About Anthony Marwood

Violinist Anthony Marwood emerged as a solo star in the 2000s and 2010s after a long period of what might be called balanced preparation. He has played chamber music, championed contemporary music as a soloist, performed in a noted early music ensemble, and participated in experimental genre-crossing collaborations. Marwood joined the prestigious Florestan Trio in 1995 and remained with it for 16 years. He later joined Les Violons du Roy, collaborated with an Indian dancer, and starred in a production of Stravinsky's L'histoire du soldat. Marwood recorded a new Thomas Adès concerto in 2007. In 2022, he issued the album, Beautiful Passing, featuring music for violin and orchestra by composer Steven Mackey, with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. By that time, his discography comprised some 40 albums.
