This thrilling piece is rooted in Mozart’s real-life relationships with Aloysia (his first love), Josepha (the first to perform the role of Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute) and Constanza (whom he ended up marrying). The Weber Sisters—all three exceedingly talented sopranos—draw very different music from Mozart, but Sabine Devieilhe brings them all to life with panache. While her Queen of the Night is amazing in its agility and beauty, the sublime "Nehmt meinen Dank" is done with disarming charm and poise.
