On their 11th album, Swiss industrialists Samael delve even deeper into the symphonic aspect of their sound. Machine-like riffs march to the forefront on “Rite of Renewal” as synthesisers stab and swell across the stereo field on “Red Planet”, while “Black Supremacy” mixes techno with borderline blast beats before erupting into a hard-charging chorus. Later, the choppy, dramatic rhythms of “This World” find their atmospheric foil in the steady, pulsating roll of “Against All Enemies” and an unlikely cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter”.
