In his 50-year career, clarinetist and bandleader Woody Herman arranged and interpreted a great deal of 20th-century music, from big band on. Some of his greatest covers are here, like his impressionistic-cum-bebop cover of John Coltrane's classic “Giant Steps” and an appealing reading of The Doors' “Light My Fire”, complete with huge jazz chords and romantic sax.
