Radio Futura Essentials

One of Spain's most popular and influential bands of the '80s, and icons of "la movida madrileña", Radio Futura formed in the heady wake of General Franco's death, starting out as a zippy New Wave outfit with songs like "Enamorado de la Moda Juvenil" ("In Love with Youth Style"). As they evolved, they added Latin and reggae rhythms to big rock hooks and sophisticated lyrics about daily life. After eight albums, the gloriously angst-driven group called it quits in 1992, though numerous greatest-hits collections as well as tributes from other bands have kept their legacy alive.
