Powderfinger Essentials

Stopping at the top is a luxury few rock bands have the class or foresight to grasp. Powderfinger's Sunsets Farewell tour played to 300,000 heartbroken Australians in 2010, ending in Brisbane where their blockbuster rock sojourn had begun behind charismatic singer Bernard Fanning in 1990. Most of the set, which became yet another multi-platinum smash as a live album, came from the turn-of-the-century sprint that made the 'Finger the biggest selling act of the era. Internationalist, Odyssey Number Five and Vulture Street walked a line between progressive agitation and a glorious common denominator best described by the latter's opening title: Rockin' Rocks.
