Claire Pommet is so young she only just qualifies as a millennial, and yet her melancholy chansons project an emotional intelligence that belies her years. Her work harks back to the solitary, sombre songs of French chanteuse Barbara and the emotive folk of early Joan Baez. But Pomme has contemporary kindred spirits too, and channels both the haunting drama of Lana Del Rey and the eerie atmospherics of CocoRosie.
