Developed out of his earlier project The Microphones, Mount Eerie has allowed Phil Elverum to explore any kind of music that strikes his fancy. At times, that has resulted in strangely compelling releases like his albums featuring only singing or drums, lo-fi folk, AutoTuned re-recordings of his own songs and even deeply felt black metal. No matter what direction this Washington native heads towards, each one of his recordings is marked with a delicate calm that makes even his loudest compositions feel surprisingly soothing and hypnotizing.
