Los Planetas Essentials

Los Planetas Essentials

Trailblazers of Spain's indie rock scene in the ‘90s, Los Planetas gave Spanish youth something local to love—an alternative to the already thriving acts out of Mexico (Zoé), Argentina (Babasonicos), Chile (Los Bunkers), and elsewhere. Their earliest albums Super 8 and Pop were firmly rooted in punk and ska, but starting with their 2007 album La Leyenda del Espacio, the Juan Ramón Rodríguez Cervilla-fronted band openly embraced flamenco and took a more melodic approach—without losing their edge or alienating their cult following.
