Jake Shears is an expert at lighting up the dance floor. Born in 1978, he first cut his teeth in Scissor Sisters, the flamboyant New York City troupe inspired by ’70s disco, glam excess and Elton John’s manicured pop-rock, particularly on 2006’s “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’”. As a solo artist, Shears balances collaborative work—highlights include the pulsating, NERVO-Kylie Minogue electro-house collaboration “The Other Boys” and guest vocals on Boys Noize’s hard-edged “All I Want”—with music that embraces glittery, glamorous vibes. His 2023 album Last Man Dancing in particular embraces vibes from neon-hued ’80s pop and hip-swivelling neo-disco.
