Friendly Fires have been together since the members met as teenagers, and even as they've grown into young adulthood in the ‘10s, they’ve continued to make music that gleams with the excitement of friends sharing the latest cool sound they've discovered. Sometimes, as on "Pull Me Back to Earth" they dive deep into euphoric tropical house vibes, whereas "On Board" feels like their run at writing the most jittery post-punk bassline possible, and "Lovesick" is a series of ever-escalating triumphal moments. But no matter what guise Friendly Fires pursue in any given song, they always keep the giddy energy levels high.
