A superstar of Spanish pop, David Bisbal's voice, style and movie-star looks have given him international appeal. He first hit the stage on the reality show Operación Triunfo (Spain's version of Pop Idol), where he was the runner-up in 2002. Soon afterward he hooked up with producer Kike Santander, who was behind some of Gloria Estefan's hits; the odd choice of "Ave Maria" inaugurated Bisbal's long run of chart success. His acoustic tour from 2011-13 produced two live albums, one recorded at Madrid's Teatro Real and one at London's Royal Albert Hall.
