About Tom Rozum
A past member of the Grant Street String Band and a frequent contributor to the solo work of singer Laurie Lewis, multi-instrumentalist Tom Rozum mixes traditional bluegrass and old-timey music with Western swing. Rozum was born in New England and lived in Arizona for a time before moving to California; in San Diego, he played with a swing band called the Rhythm Rascals, and upon moving to Berkeley, he worked with the traditional-music outfits Summerdog and Flying South. He joined the Grant Street String Band in 1986, where he met vocalist Laurie Lewis; Rozum contributed mandolin, mandola, fiddle, and guitar work to many of Lewis' solo releases, and their 1996 duet album The Oak and the Laurel was nominated for a Grammy. In 1998, Rozum issued his solo debut, Jubilee. ~ Steve Huey
