About The Amboy Dukes
Best known for launching the career of Ted Nugent, the Amboy Dukes were Detroit's ambassadors of psychedelic rock. They scored one major hit, “Journey to the Center of Your Mind,” but none of their five studio albums sold particularly well. By the early 1970s, they had signed to Frank Zappa's DiscReet label and become Ted Nugent & the Amboy Dukes, edging closer to Nugent's subsequent hard rock sound. Shortly thereafter, Nugent officially began his hugely successful solo career.
