Surfin' Bichos

About Surfin' Bichos

Formed in Albacete in 1988 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Fernando Alfaro, Surfin' Bichos are considered one of the pioneers and leading lights of the Spanish indie rock scene, boasting cathartic lyrics and a visceral sound indebted to the likes of the Velvet Underground or Pixies. The group released four LPs, La Luz en Tus Entrañas (1989), Fotógrafo del Cielo (1991), Hermanos Carnales (1992), and El Amigo de las Tormentas (1993), as well as several EPs and compilation albums. After a severe falling out with his label, Alfaro decided to put an end to Surfin' Bichos in 1994. However, in the new millennium he has revived the band a few times (2006, 2015, 2017) for the occasional concert or commemorative tour. ~ Mariano Prunes
