About Staples Jr. Singers

So reminiscent of the Staple Singers that they took their name from a description used by those who caught their earlier performances, the Staples Jr. Singers were a sibling gospel-soul group from Mississippi. Their discography is limited to a couple singles and an album, When Do We Get Paid (1975). Although the Staples Jr. Singers were inspired most by their namesake's purer gospel recordings, their studio output happened to resemble the group's later, more R&B-oriented sound. Like their elders, they also balanced messages of religious faith with those of equality. The Staples Jr. Singers ceased recording by the end of the '70s, but members have remained active in other groups.
